Winter Springs, FL -If you think life is good, being a fit mom is better. Ironmoms, Inc., founded by Debbie
Sweezey and Whitney Roosa, will find itself on the start line of the Minnie Marathon at Disney World May 2-4, 2008. The Ironmoms, Inc. apparel will also make its debut at the Expo in conjunction with the race. Not only are the cofounders exhibiting at the expo, they will participate in the 5K and 15K races.
“Ironmoms, Inc. was founded in order to “celebrate Moms’ achievements in fitness everyday, everywhere,” says Debbie Sweezey. “We are real-life examples of balancing training and family obligations. Any woman can get up and go for a run,”continues Sweezey. “But a mom has to work through a logistical labyrinth to coordinate child care, work in training before her family awakes or take the kids along for runs and bike rides. We just want to let moms know that we get it and we applaud them for their efforts.”
“We are not unique,” adds Whitney Roosa. “Moms forever have been running with their children in jogging strollers or riding with their youngsters behind them in bike seats. What is unique is that we’ve chosen this time, right now, to honor those moms who go to such lengths to stay in shape and train for and compete in endurance events. The ‘Mom demographic’ is growing and we want to inspire and motivate more moms to get out there and give it a shot.”
When you consider how many events are women-only and read articles such as those featured in Runner’s World’s May 2008 issue highlighting moms taking on the Olympic Trials, not only are the demographics breaking down the genders, but more and more moms are being identified as such.
Ironmoms, Inc. sells casual apparel featuring custom-created artwork depicting moms in motion with their children in tow. The apparel is available at select retail outlets and on www.WeAreIronmoms.com in the Mom-e-store. The website offers resources, inspiration, and motivation via the Ironmom Challenge. Moms are invited to compete in the Ironmom Challenge by participating in three endurance events in a calendar year.
